Dental Aesthetics with Pure Ceramics Course
General objectives
It is intended that the trainees at the end are able to diagnose, plan and perform all-ceramic prosthetic restorations, as well as establish a more fruitful relationship with the dental technician (DT) in order to improve the performance of these types of work.
Specific objectives
At the end of the training action, trainees should be able to:
Diagnose the various clinical situations based on scientific criteria and patient expectations;
Know and improve new techniques and materials available on the market (Cad-Cam system, injection system etc…);
Recognize the fundamental role of periodontal health in the success of any restorative treatment;
Develop protocols that allow the execution of more satisfactory and predictable ceramic restorations (crowns, veneers, inlays, onlays and ceramic fragments);
Establish a close relationship between aesthetics, form and function (occlusion).
Program Content and Credit Hours
-
Module I: Patient Examination, Differential Diagnosis and Treatment Plan
-
Module II: The importance of study models and diagnostic wax-up
-
Module III: Techniques for dental preparation and making temporary
-
Module IV: Impression Techniques and Obtaining Working Models
-
Module V: Cimentation Protocols for the various types of materials
Total: 50H / Classes
Recipients
Dentists who want to update their knowledge in the aesthetic treatment of their patients with all-ceramics.
Training Methodologies
The syllabus will be addressed by the trainers through audiovisual means, for presentations of theoretical classes. Pre-clinical practical classes will be performed by participants before the start of clinical sessions, so that work protocols are pre-established. Participants will also be suggested to bring patients to carry out their clinical work. There may be, if the participants so wish, the demonstration of a clinical case by the trainer.
Assessment Methodologies
Diagnostic assessment – carried out at the beginning of the course, in order to verify the trainees' prerequisites.
Formative assessment – carried out modularly in order to assess the knowledge acquired during the course, with a weight of 70% in the final grade.
Summative assessment – verifying the knowledge consolidation of the trainees at the end of the course, with a weight of 20% in the course completion grade.
